Eric Benning

Eric benning began making his first violin under the instruction of his violin maker parents Hans and Nancy at the age of 9. He worked on it on Saturdays and holidays. Eric finished his violin when he was 11 years old. This was the beginning of his passionate desire to make instruments and follow the proud tradition of his family.

In 1997, Eric started his studies with the renowned artisan Carl Becker Jr., son of Carl Becker Sr., the illustrious Chicago violin maker who passed on his tradition of master to Paul Toenniges, founder of the Studio City Music, and to Hans and Nancy Benning.

Over the years, Eric continued to make violins, violas, cellos and even some viola d’amore, while he continued his studies with Becker, perfecting the old world style and the work traditions that mark his current work.

Over the years Eric continued to make violins, violas, cellos and even some viola d’amore, Eric is a perfectionist and has worked and studied hard to become one of the top violin makers of today. He has created well over 125 instruments which are being played by some of the finest musicians today.
