Benning Academy of Music offers classes for children from
6 months and and older adults

We will provide you with an instrument if you don’t own one.

With your registration Benning will help with a scholarship for 2 children of vulnerable areas.

We also give musical therapies to the elderly, disabled and foster homes, among others.

EARLY
STIMULATION

(from 6 months to 2 years)

Through musical stimuli, psychomotricity, as well as cognitive, sensory, and language skills are developed promoting the affective bond that stimulates emotional intelligence in children.

MUSICAL
INITIATION

(from 3 to 5 years)

The music awakens the sensitivity, love, and appreciation for music through play, developing the auditory sense, language, cognitive and sensory skills.

CHOIR

Singing stimulates concentration and memory, improves vocal and auditory capabilities, and harmonizes emotions. In addition, the choir develops security, self-esteem and the student’s social integration through companionship.

PERSONALIZED INSTRUMENT
LESSONS

Our teaching method goes from individual to general. Each class is totally personalized to create a stronger bond between student and teacher.

Instruments:

Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, Guitar, Piano, Voice, Transverse Flute.

SOLFÈGE

Familiarizes and helps to fully understand the basic elements of musical language by approaching theoretical-practical methods of melody, rhythm, reading and musical intonation.

MUSICAL
HISTORY

The student learns the variety of existent musical styles in order to recognize, appreciate, and comprehend the scores and the different musical styles.

STRING AND GUITAR
ENSEMBLES

The students learn to work as a team, creating beautiful harmonic composition together, accompanied by string instruments such as: Guitar, Violin, Cello, among others.

What instruments do you teach?

Violin, viola, cello, contrabass, guitar, piano, transverse flute, electric guitar, electric bass, saxophone and singing classes.

Is the class in group or individual?

We offer both kinds, completely personalized student-teacher classes adapting to each others schedules, student’s level and age. Group classes are optional and can be of choir and solfege. They are structured in four months at defined hours (request info to our offices).

Are classes only for children?

No, we offer classes for people of all ages without limit, from 3-month-old babies in early stimulation to seniors.

How does payment work?

We request an annual registration fee of $500. The monthly contribution fee is $1,100, which helps to give a scholarship to 2 Patios de la Estación children that will be able to study in the academy with the same quality of classes, instruments and facilities as the conventional students.

How often are the classes?

The lessons are once a week for one hour, you can also take a weekly solfège group lesson. The individual lessons are available whenever the students wants to register, while the group ones are for quarterly periods and you have to wait for the registration dates to enroll the academy. They both have the same price.

What are the opening and closing hours?

From Monday till Friday from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

How is the class schedule assigned?

We schedule according to the availability of the student and teacher, finding a compromise.

Do I have to bring my own instrument?

If you don’t have your own, the academy can give you a loan scholarship for the instrument to take it home and use it while you are registered to the academy. This loan is subject to availability and to the signing of a loan contract and promissory note equivalent to the cost of the instrument in case of damage or loss.

Does the Academy has security?

Yes, we have security cameras directly connected with the local police. We also have 24-hours surveillance and all classrooms are monitored from the reception with a mobile application called IDMSS LITE, so all parents can download it at follow their children’s activities while they are in our facilities.

Are teachers trained to teach music?

All our teachers have a degree in music or are studying it, so they have the necessary skills to transmit teaching.

Is the Academy a government institution?

No, we are a private institution which has had the support of the State Government, nonetheless we are a self-sustainable academy.

How can I get a scholarship?

A socio-economic study is carried out on the candidate and according to the result, we award a scholarship percentage, which is subject to approval.

How long do the private lessons last?

One hour a week, for as long as the student wishes to stay in the academy

How long does it take to learn an instrument?

It depends on the performance and practice of each student, however the estimated time to play an instruments in a basic way is 3 to 6 months.

Do you teach music reading?

Yes, our teaching method is completely based on the musical notation, the results of this are reflected in the monthly solfège (music theory) class.

Do you work with exams and grades?

No, in the group classes, our way of deducing a result is defined by the evaluation of a professor, who determines if the student passed or failed. In the individual classes, the evaluation of the progress on the instrument is based on the performance of recitals.

Are you endorsed by the SEP?

Benning Academy of Music is currently in process of being endorsed by the Secretaría de Educación Pública, so that all the studies completed here are certified as a music diploma and later on as a propaedeutic system.

YOUTH IN RHYTHM PROJECT

The project Youth in Rhythm is a series of conferences which seek through the effort of society and government to create a quality system that is inclusive and innovative. We want to develop in society a competent culture in musical art, taking it to the following areas:
